Time

Connor || Light was fading. In all senses of the phrase. The sun had set hours ago, but the stars were just being covered by the clouds. And yet in the growing darkness, a figure was sitting against the wall of a small house. His head was leaned back and he was staring at what was left uncovered of the stars and the moon. The hood of his cloak was against the wall, somewhat on, but mostly off, as if it was once over his head, but had long since fallen off. Most of his hair was dangling back as much as it could, due to the angle of his head, but his bangs hung over his eyes creating a thin veil between his eyes and the world around him. Though nothing was happening, the action was happening inside his mind. He was locked in a battle with himself and the personified emotions that resided in him. It had been a long time since rage had personified in him, and now he had all variants of emotions speaking inside his mind. He looked slightly older than the last time anyone saw him, and it was only bolstered by the grim expression on his face. 'There was nothing you could do' Intelligence told him as he thought of home 'I could have helped. I could have fought." he berated himself remembering the ruins and everything he stood for 'You could have died, or been kidnapped" The figure thought this was unlikely, as both he and his father had fought in wars that seemed hopeless and won "Been there, done that' he thought angrily 'And it is /never/ happening again' 'You are a prince. You--' 'No' he interrupted 'I /was/ a prince. One cannot be a prince when there is no king. One cannot be a prince with no realm.' He was sick of this, of having this conversation again. He'd been arguing about this for the past three days. He just wanted to forget everything. Forget the images of cities desolated that were burned into his mind. Forget the sight of his father's charred body. Forget everything. He felt hopeless. He had no home, no family, no hope. He wanted to just leave everything behind and leave for another realm, but he couldn't. People were always going to try to hurt him, torture him, and worse. He needed to continue down the path he was heading. But most of all, he needed to remember everything, for it would make him stronger in the days to come. He was not going to back down. He was not going to forget. And he was not going to live in the past. He dragged himself up from the spot he was sitting, his eyes once green and hazel, were now both green "No more" he spoke aloud before walking off along the road, a new vow, and a new mission.
